Begin feeding to show calves at the rate of 1% of the animal’s body weight and gradually increase the amount each day until the calf is consuming approximately 3% of its body weight daily. Divide the daily ration into two equal feedings per day. Do not feed more than the calf can consume per feeding. If calf does not consume the entire daily ration, reduce the amount fed to a level the animal fully consumes. Do not let old feed accumulate in troughs. Provide a source of fresh, clean water at all times. Depending upon the breed of calf, frame size, and amount of finish desired, continue to feed Lone Star Show Calf Developer Ration up to approximately 90 to 140 days before show date (700 to 800 pounds of body weight). At this particular time, begin feeding Lone Star Fitter’s Choice Calf Finisher. Additional information on show calf feeding program is available from your Lone Star dealer.
